Aging:
Intrinsic aging is normal aging with the passage of time and includes the decreased sebum, loss of elasticity, thinning of the skin, stratum corneum layer thickens and increased dryness/dehydration.
What is anti-aging? The very term implies contradiction because, as we all know, death is inevitable. Anti-aging medicine focuses not on eliminating aging, but instead on slowing down the biological processes associated with aging
Photo aging:
Photo aging is premature and controllable aging resulting from many reasons…
Excessive UV radiation.
Irregular pigmentation.
Capillary distention.
Uneven Texture.
Wrinkles.
The term “free radicals” is used to describe reactive molecules that speed up the aging process by damaging healthy cells and attacking collagen. Because the free radical molecule has an extra electron it creates an extra negative charge. This unbalanced energy makes the free radical bind itself to another balanced molecule as it tries to steal electrons. In so doing, the balanced molecule becomes unbalanced and thus a free radical itself. Perhaps a bit like bumper-cars crashing into each other at the Fair?
It is known that diet, lifestyle, drugs (e.g. tobacco and alcohol) and radiation etc., are all accelerators of free radical production within the body. The simple process of eating, drinking and breathing forms free-radicals from the energy production cycles, oxygen is a potent free-radical producer. Each time your body defends itself against a free radical, a new free radical is produced, unleashing a chain reaction that can severely damage or destroy tissues and cells, even leading to mutation of cells.
Since it is clear today that oxidation causes free radicals..... The answer is :
Normal Signs of Aging
20 Years….. wrinkles that occur under 20 are caused from poor diet, not knowing what to use on skin, alcohol in acne products which are drying and aging.
25 years….horizontal lines on forehead, also smaller lines under eyes stemming from near the tear duct area.
30 years….crow's feet and laugh lines
35 years…. vertical lines in front of ears "smokers mouth" occurs
40 years… dark circles, skin thins out, loss of elasticity crows feet and laugh lines deepen mustache appear
45 years… lips start to thin - chin, bridge of nose and ear lobes acquire lines
55 years… neck folds deepen, folds and double chins appear
65 years… hairs in nose and ears grow out
70 years…. wrinkles get wrinkles
ANTI-OXIDANT
Any substance that impedes or slows down free-radical damage by preventing the oxidative action of molecules is referred to as an “antioxidant”
Our body has Built-in "antioxidant" defenses composed of enzymes. and when we are Young, we are loaded of antioxidant which easily keep free radicals in check, but as we age, however, our level of naturally produced antioxidants decline, and at the middle age we experience a particularly steep drop... in the body's primary antioxidant, the glutathione. From that point on, we live in a chronic state of antioxidant deficit...
There are few things to do...
1- You have to fight the aging process... helping your own production of Hormones and your own production of antioxidants...
2 - at the same times, smoothly help your antioxidant defenses, with the right resources and nutritional support... Doing so, you can keep your cells well-nourished and active, and help their rejuvenation.
Alpha Lipoic Acid: Most Powerful Antioxidant that destroys many of the free-radicals that are harmful to the human body. Lipoic acid is both water and fat soluble.
Lipoic acid is a well-known natural substance found in certain foods and also produced in the human body.
1. Lipoic acid is a potent and versatile antioxidant.
2. It is a co-factor in a key biochemical pathway responsible for energy production in the cells (citric acid cycle).
3. It inhibits cross-linking which is the formation of chemical bridges between proteins or other large molecules. Cross-linking contributed to the aging process by causing hardening of arteries, wrinkling of the skin and stiffening of joints.
4. It has moderate anti-inflammatory effect.
5. Finally, it has a capacity, albeit a modest one, to neutralize and remove from the body a variety of toxic metals.
In theory, all of the above effects of lipoic acid may benefit skin cells and, therefore, improve skin texture and wrinkles
Vitamin C plays an essential role in the enzyme activities of human tissues, and important for the growth and maintenance of healthy bones and skin tissues. It strengthen the immune system, Vitamin C, similar to Vitamin E, is a natural antioxidant and scavenger of free oxygen radicals that are believed to cause that occur wrinkling, decline in collagen synthesis, and skin cancers. Vitamin C is essential for collagen formation; it also helps for wound healing and facilitates recovery from burns. It is a valuable antioxidant and protectant against photo damage that is created by sunlight in both the UVA and UVB bands. Topical vitamin C does not absorb or block harmful ultraviolet radiation like a sunscreen, but an important adjunct to the use of sunscreens, Its different from usual sun block, once vitamin C is absorbed into skin, it cannot be washed or wiped off. It stimulates collagen production, providing sunlight protection. It stays in the skin for 72 hours, preventing UV induced immune suppression reaction. Vitamin C provides treatment to lesson erythema ( redness) in skin resurfacing, a helpful adjunct or an alternative to Retin-A in the treatment of fine lines and stimulant to wound healing.
Vitamin E Vitamin E plays a crucial role in protecting skin cells and membranes from environmental damage. It also provides deep moisturization and calms inflammation.
Green Tea extract is considered to be a great anti-oxidant, it plays a vital role in protecting the cell from free radical damage initiated by environmental factors such as exposure to UV light.
